There are meaningful events that one is longing to take this weekend, and that is the exhibit "A new Age of Exploration - 130 years of National Geographic", whose display has been extended till 27th December 2020, due to the forced shutdown amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Head to the renovated Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto and take the interesting bits of each bygone era by the lenses of Nat Geo photographers, which have been set under the telling title "Um Século e Tanto" ["Quite a Century", free translation].

This display, which celebrates 130 years of National Geographic's important work in the world, features objects, photographs, maps and excerpts of documentaries, captured by National Geographic collaborators over a century and three decades, for example, Jane Goodall's cuddling a newly born chimp or the discovery of Machu Picchu.

The exhibition is divided in nine sections, where visitors can get acquainted with the first years of the National Geographic Society, its present and future, as well as its mission.

The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am until 6pm (last entries at 5.30pm), at the Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto.
