"Loving Vincent", by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, is on show at Municipal Theatre Campo Alegre with a daily display till 28 February, starting at 6.30 pm.

The film is one of the first fully painted animated feature film, based on 130 works of this great Dutch painter and revolves around Vincent Van Gogh's life, his relationship with his brother Theo and the circumstances of his death. Van Gogh was shot in the stomach at close range; If it was a suicide attempt or not, it still remains a mystery. The painter died two days later.

Director Dorota Kobiela, a painter herself, thought of conceiving a 7 minute short movie in 2008; However, after studying the techniques and the artist's story through his letters, she decided to set up around 65 thousand frames of oil painting on canvas, using the same technique as Van Gogh, with the help of 125 painters.

Following the film debut at the 2017 Annecy International Animated Film Festival, it won Best Animated Feature Film Award at the 30th European Film Awards in Berlin and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 90th Academy Awards.
