Magnolias bring early spring to Porto

Today, 21 March is World Tree Day. This date was established to create awareness on nature care, specifically focused on trees. Porto. wishes to mark this day by highlighting the beautiful magnolias that stand throughout the city of Porto.

Moreover, these almost-spring temperature days are a sign that the warm weather and mild temperatures are on their way, as magnolias are among the first trees to bloom as spring approaches.

Pink mauve blooms on bare branches are displayed all over Porto, in gardens, flower beds in every corner or street, from Aliados to Jardim Botânico, to the Square Francisco Sá Carneiro or the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal, just to mention a few.

Some of these Magnolias are officially protected trees, due to their structure, level of maturity or even historic links and significance.
