From 21 to 24 February, the magnificent Stock Exchange Palace will host the 16th edition of The Wine Essence Porto, surely the most eagerly-anticipated occasion of the wine events calendar in Portugal featuring big ticket bottles and inspiring tastings.

The Wine Essence [Essência do Vinho] Porto event is the stage of the world premiere of one of the worlds' most exclusive and rare wines, the Liber Pater 2015. A bottle of this wine can go up to 30 thousand euros per bottle.

"It is with great pride that we managed to get this world exclusive for the Wine Essence event in Porto and for Portugal. Only 240 bottles will be released in the whole world", states Nuno Guedes Vaz Pires, Director of the "Revista de Vinhos" magazine.

"The Liber Pater 2015 is the only wine within the French region that was also found guilty of contravening set out winemaking rules or even the way his viticultural work is not in line with usual practices. This is a rare wine, controversial and produced from vines prefiloxéricas in "pé-franco" from native grape varieties, such as Saint-Macaire, Tarnay, Marselan or Castets, cultivated on Médoc sandy soils. This will be the first wine since the phylloxera in Bordeaux and the 1855 rating, to be produced from native grape varieties", concludes Vaz Pires.

The commented wine tasting will take place on the second day of the event, on 22 February, at 3.30 pm, at the Arab Room [Salão Árabe], in the Stock Exchange Palace [Palácio da Bolsa]. The oenologist Loic Pasquet, the Liber Pater wine producer, will guide the tasting.

Online ticketing already available. Early birds till 18 February.
