Must-see movies to watch at home with Medeia Filmes

The time we spend at home should be quality time; that is why the Cinephile Quarantine streams the best must-see movies this weekend. 

Be sure to watch "Secrets & Lies", by Mike Leigh, streamed from 14th to 16th May and "Mia Madre" by Nanni Moretti, to watch from 16th May to 19th May, with Medeia Filmes and Teatro Municipal Campo Alegre.

The 1966 drama film, written and directed by Mike Leigh, Secrets & Lies features Marianne Jean-Baptiste as Hortense, a well-educated black middle-class London optometrist, who was adopted as a baby and has chosen to trace her family history; she discovers that her birth mother, Cynthia is a working-class white woman with a dysfunctional family.

The second movie is "Mia madre (lit.?'"My Mother"'), a 2015 Italian-French drama film directed by Nanni Moretti. The film was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. The film portrays Margherita, a director working on a social-realist film about a factory strike called Noi siamo qui (We Are Here). Margherita is not coping with the task to direct the actors and she breaks up with her boyfriend, an actor in the film. Margherita reflects on her often cold relations with her family, friends and colleagues.
