The Casa da Música plays host to the third edition of the National Geographic Summit, on 29 April, at 3pm, at Sala Suggia. The aim is to discuss large scale goals and what possible changes can occur to reach effective plastic waste reduction in our planet.

This is the first National Geographic Summit to be held in Porto and the event is geared towards the important topic of "Planet or Plastic?" as the National Geographic Summit in Porto wants to establish a vision for change.

The conference will be attended by Brian Skerry, underwater photographer; Lucy Hawkes, researcher on ocean pollution and how it affects animals; Paula Sobral, expert in marine litter; Jamie Butterworth, who will deliver a lecture on circular economy; Lauren Singer, follower of a "zero Waste" life-style; and Ana Milhazes, Ambassador of the Movement Lixo Zero Portugal.

From Porto, it is key to listen to the planet and tune in on the sounds of nature and Mother Earth, and raise people's awareness on the choice they have regarding "choosing between the future of the planet or continue to use disposable plastic".

"This is the first summit to be held outside Lisbon, and also the first one to focus on such a concrete topic", said the Director General of National Geographic, Luís Fernambuco.

This is more than a simple meeting, it is a call for action.
