Nos Primavera Sound is here! Let's make the most of festival fun, by embracing the sun and nature at lovely Parque da Cidade in Porto whilst listening to our favourite artists.

Last year, Nos Primavera Sound pioneered in the use of recyclable and reusable cups. This year's edition, the festival has a handful of eco-friendly steps to be taken that will make this an unforgettable and "greener" music festival.

The dates of the event are 8 to 10 June and it is the first festival in the country to "go green". The "Sê-lo Verde" initiative, by the Ministry of Environment is a programme aimed at supporting and encouraging music festivals to become increasingly eco-friendly.

Besides the recyclable cups, further eco-friendly steps will be taken such as the use of biodegradable packaging.

Concerted action by Pic-Nic, Porto City Hall, Ecovisão and Lipor, will make NOS Primavera Sound 2017 even more efficient regarding material resources, by reducing plastic and paper use, replacing them with bio-degradable packaging material, 100 per cent plant origin. Packaging waste is separated and turned into compost.

Also, in order to avoid cigarette butts scattered all around the festival premises, the festival organisation will provide smokers with handheld ashtrays. At the same time, premiums will be offered to raise awareness on reforestation and eco-friendly measures and behaviours, for example, seed pencils and seed bombs, easy to sow everywhere.

Other important step is the installation of compost toilets, thus reducing the serious risk connected with spillage and waste water storing.

Other actions will be taken to raise people's awareness on good environmental practice like a photography contest and awarding the best environment practices in the food area.

All the festival's suppliers and partners will be handed out a guide on good environmental practice.
