Participate in a Worldwide Archives Celebration and visit Porto Municipal Archive

Porto Municipal Archive is located at Casa do Infante and it is open for visits, upon prior appointment. As usual, these days, there are additional measure to take into account, namely space availability and wearing face masks or social distancing.

Today, 9thg June, the world celebrates International Archives Day, which is a day devoted to promoting the great work of archives and archivists in preserving and providing public access to historical records.

The Municipal Archives in Porto provides access to five online videos on the vast documental collection that will let you in the history and the foundation of the identity of the city of Porto throughout the centuries.

Travelling through time, these videos pay a tribute to the first Head of Division, Manuel Luís Real, his 30 years long career and his role in raising awareness among the public of the importance of records and archives, and to make it understood that records and archives provide the foundation for any identity.
