Pedro Matos Chaves and Fernando Peres, two leading figures in car racing competitions invite you to Porto Street Stage, starting Friday, 18th may.

In a statement to Porto., Pedro Matos Chaves recalls the time when he raced in Porto, and the start of the race was in the Antas area, in 1976/77. The former driver says "the Rally is most welcomed to the city, where there are a lot of fans. Some people even take the day off to see the Rally", Matos Chaves enthuses.

Pedro Chaves was the second Portuguese Formula Ford Champion, in 1986, starting an international career in 1987 in the British Formula Ford Championship. In 1990 he won the British F3000 Championship with the Madgwick Motorsport outfit, also racing in a few rounds of the FIA F3000 series.

Fernando Peres, with a record of 30 wins in the National Rally Championship very much welcomes the Rally in the North region and in Porto as he sees decentralisation key in such important events. "It is amazing the capacity Porto had to organise this series in the very heart of the city, and in Avenida dos Aliados", Peres emphasised.

Downtown Porto everything is set and ready to deliver the thrill and the emotions of the Vodafone Rally of Portugal.

Most stands are sold out, with only some dozen tickets available for sale, at the online BOL and FNAC, Worten, Sportzone, El Corte Ingles, CTT, Youth Hostels; Rivoli Municipal Theatre, PortoLazer Headquarters; and at the tickets stands assembled at Avenida dos Aliados (lower end) and at the Amor de Perdição Square (Cordoaria).
