The Photo Ark Exhibition will remain on display at the Biodiversity Gallery - Live Science Centre until 29 July, as agreed by The National Geographic and the University of Porto due to the strong interest by the general public.

For six months, about 50 thousand people have visited "a bit" of the largest "Photographic Ark" in the world, made of exclusive images of endangered or protected species.

The International project Photo Ark by photographer Joel Sartore will continue in the city of Porto till the next month of July.
The fundamental goal of Sartore is to "connect the right people to commit with biodiversity of our planet and to protect it".

The project initiated in 2006, with The National Geographic quality label and it debuted in Porto to raise Portuguese people's awareness to this global challenge: the need to preserve wild life and biodiversity"- highlights the communiqué issued by National geographic, pointing out that "by protecting biodiversity, we are in fact saving the planet and the human species".

The exhibit comprises around 40 photos, computer graphics, and videos of threatened species.
