For the first time ever in the entire world, Pizzaiolo international day will be celebrated on 17 January.

The pizzaiolo is a professional pizza maker and this activity has been recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The celebration takes place in Porto and pizzas will be offered to the public at Gomes Teixeira Square (aka Praça dos Leões), where a wood oven will be assembled, starting at 11 am.

It is up to the Portuguese Pizzaiolos (Pizza Chef), who have won the World Championship in 2017 in Naples, to prepare the various Neapolitan pizzas.

This event is organised by the Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani in Portogallo, chaired by Michele Mezzero, and by the Associazione Socio-Culturale Italiana del Portogallo Dante Aligheri.

Between noon and 8 pm, slices of delicious Neapolitan pizza will be offered to the public, who can enjoy a taste of Italy while feasting the eyes on pizza acrobatic moments, to the sound of typical Italian music.

Now, care for a pizza?
