ANA- Aeroportos de Portugal, the Airport Authority of Portugal, has announced strong investment at Porto Airport in landside and airside infrastructures, namely passenger control, check-in points and cargo area. Also, the runway will be expanded.

The airport is expected to grow 20% this year and ANA has assured that the necessary work will be done for the airport to meet the region's growing needs.

For Jorge Ponce de Leão, "this year, once again, Porto airport has been honoured not only as one of the top three airports in European-wide standard, but was also awarded as the best airport in its size, between 5 and 15 million (passengers)."

Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, stated that "it is extraordinary that (the airport's) quality standards and public recognition are maintained whilst continuing to progress."

According to the Minister of Planning and Infrastructure, "we celebrate the dynamics of a country and a region that has led this positive transformation of the country in recent times."

"The northern region has once again been the driving force behind this economic recovery. Porto, in particular, has been a fundamental axis, a fundamental pole."

Pedro Marques also added that "Porto airport has created momentum for this economic development in the region."

ANA's immediate investments in Porto Airport are estimated at 55 million euros. In particular, the construction of the so-called "Taxiway Foxtrot", which will increase the traffic volume at Porto airport runaway.
