Porto and Macau highlight tourism and cultural relations

The city of Porto played host to the delegation of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macau, Alexis Tam Chong Veng, on 15 March. This was a day devoted to celebrating the Porto Macau friendship, twin cities for 22 years.

The Macanese delegation was welcomed to a tour through Porto, chaired by Mayor Rui Moreira. The tour included a Dragon Dance in front of Porto City Hall as well as a drawing exhibition by Macanese artist Leong Leng Wai, themed "Imagens de Macau - A Visão Pessoal de 0.38", on display at Porto City Hall Council gallery, till 24 April. Visiting schedule is from Monday to Friday, from 9am till 5pm.

"We always seek to disseminate our city wherever we go, trying to showcase the dynamics of Macau. In this amazing city of Porto we are honoured to open this unique exhibit with the art work by an autistic young author whose way of communicating with the world is through his very detailed drawings", explained the Director of Tourism Services in Macau, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.

"We are delightful to host Macau in this special year and in this venue, the City Hall, which is where we welcome our friends. Besides being a tourism destination, Porto also aims at establish itself as a gaming-led tourism of such a region as Macau", enthused councillor for Economy, Tourism and Trade, Ricardo Valente.

The visit started with a lunch hosted by Rui Moreira at the Museu Romântico and concluded at Serralves with dinner offered by Alexis Tam. In-between there were visits to the Pasteleira Reservoir Museum, The Museum of Port Wine, The Theatre of Bolhão and the São Bento Station.
