Porto celebrates European Heritage Days

Porto City Hall as prepared a series of events regarding the celebration of European Heritage Days, starting 22 September till 24 September. These events are themed "Heritage and Nature".

The Directorate-General for Cultural heritage aims at enhancing the importance of the relationship between people, communities, places and their History, and the need to value and safeguard this important relationship, crucial for the quality of life, qualification of the territory and the strengthening of identities.

It is in this spirit that the connection Heritage and Nature can work as a growing source of knowledge, creativity and recreation, with an enormous potential for a balanced cultural, social and economic development. 

In order to ensure that these principles are respected, Porto City Hall has organised specific events for this weekend, which will be conducted by the Municipal Division of the Museums and Cultural Heritage, Casa do Infante, Municipal Library of Porto (BPMP), the Environmental Directorate and Municipal Company Águas do Porto.

The events organised by the municipality include a photo workshop "à la minute" and another one of Glazed tile panel painting, in casa do Infante, which also includes a guided tour.

There will be a session devoted to "Quinta da China" and to Naturalistic Painting at the refurbished House-Museum Marta Ortigão Sampaio as well, and an exhibition at the Port Wine Museum.

This three-day celebration of European Heritage Days includes conferences, shows, workshops and thematic guided tours.

The majority of these events are free.
