Why does the world need a Piano Day?

Nils Frahm has just the right answer for this question: "For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn't hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener."

The Piano Day is marked in Porto with an event that takes place in the Palace of the Viscondes de Balsemão, at 7 pm, where pianists Martino Simone, Hélder Bruno, João Páris and Paulo Barros will hold a celebration performance.

Open doors around 7 pm at Palace Viscondes de Balsemão, located at Carlos Alberto Square. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm.

Admission is free upon registration here.

Piano Day is celebrated on the 88th day of the year - in 2017 it is March 29th - based on the number of keys on the instrument being celebrated.

The main purpose of this celebration is to enhance the piano as key platform towards the advance of musical dimensions.
