Porto is part of the first European SCALE.CITIES Handbook

The role local authorities play in the establishment of technological ecosystems was the main drive for the StartupCity Summit, which took place in Amsterdam, on 25th May.

This was also the perfect stage for releasing the first handbook on enterprising and dynamic cities of Europe and sharing their best practices.

Porto is such a city. The Call for Activities by ScaleUp Porto, an initiative by Porto City Hall, is enhanced as the path towards booming the city as an active entrepreneur hub, where knowledge meets skills and there is factual sense that the city is alive with ideas, talent and Innovation. This is what makes business stay.

The StartupCity Summit gathered over 300 startups and scaleups managers and leaders of 150 cities.

This event was jointly organised by StartupAmsterdam and The Next Web, and it was the perfect occasion for the launch of the first SCALE.CITIES publication. This handbook presents the case studies of twelve cities in Europe, together with a summary of the overall balance regarding each project, the common factor being the local government's degree of commitment on this network.

The SCALE.CITIES network was established to help startups boom and scale up globally so as to make sure each city has a healthy atmosphere of investment.
