At a press conference held at the Municipal Gallery of Porto, on 26 February, Mayor Rui Moreira and his Deputy for Culture Guilherme Blanc announced the coming season of Porto Municipal Gallery. The conference was also attended by EDP Trustee Miguel Coutinho, Patron of the Gallery.

"The Municipal Gallery of Porto develops its cultural activity guided by two key ideas, namely investment in curatorial projects that stem from research in several areas of contemporary culture and investment in new cultural and artistic practices", as stated by Mayor Rui Moreira, regarding the Municipal Gallery programming for the year 2019.

Rui Moreira also announced that there will be two more exhibits this year, in a total of eight annual exhibits.

"We forecast that this year we will not only augment the number of activities but also make measurable improvements in the building, which includes the library and the gallery project. The budget for the programming of the gallery is 450 thousand euros", the Mayor added.

One of the main objectives is for the gallery to be better prepared to host a wide variety of artistic projects and to welcome audiences as well, as there was an increase in the number of visitors. The year 2018 reached 115 thousand visitors.
