Porto.

This is another event to be affected by the Covd-19 pandemic. The ACP - Automobile Club of Portugal confirmed this morning it postponed the Rali de Portugal as the county is combatting the new coronavirus pandemic.

The race had already been suspended (it was due to take place on 23rd May) and had been rescheduled for May 2021; today, the race is set to happen in May 2021.

In the statement by ACP, it reads that "due to the impossibility to take WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal to the streets in the original date, due to the global situation of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), Automóvel Club de Portugal tried its best it was doable this year in the end of October. After assessing all the sanitation and safety conditions together with partners and municipalities involved, these are not compatible with the uncertain times we are living in, aside from the uncertainty of border opening and air space control. Thus, Automóvel Club de Portugal is forced to cancel the National Race of the FIA World Rally Championship 2020.

ACP deeply regrets this decision, but it is the only one to take in order to have responsibility towards the thousands of fans, teams, municipalities, sponsors and everyone involved in the race, which in 2019 had an impact in national economy worth 142 million de euros. Automóvel Club de Portugal already asked the return of the WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal in May 2021."
