Porto City Hall and ACP are studying the Street Stage format of Rally de Portugal in 2018. The Rally de Portugal was a huge success in 2016.

The event moves back to the Invicta and the challenges are the sandy roads and the rocks and deep ruts that ensure tighter grip for the early starters during the first pass presenting an altogether different hazard for the second pass.

This rally was named ?Best Rally in the World' on five occasions.

Now, for the first time, the municipality and the organisation of the rally de Portugal wish to take the format to the Clérigos area, enabling access to the wider public and better mobility within the city.

In 2016, the World Rally Championship was held at Avenida dos Aliados and at Avenida da Ponte and these two areas of the city were only closed to traffic for the period of one day.

This year, the mobility plan will be similar, although the entire area of Trindade will be made available for accessibility reasons, access to the metro network and parking areas.

Porto City Hall has a policy of rotation of major sports events in the city, namely the World Power Boating Championship, the World Rally Championship, RedBull Air Race and again the Rally de Portugal.

Porto City Hall finds that the investment on the rally de Portugal is rather an attractive investment, and in 2017, this event even without the Porto Street Stage has had a return on investment up to 137 million euros to the country.
