Sá Carneiro was one of the airports with the greatest increase in passenger numbers

Data from Statistics Portugal (INE) for the first half of the year shows a 5.8% increase in the number of passengers handled at the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport compared to 2023, making it one of the airport infrastructures with the highest growth.

In total, nearly 7.5 million people passed through the airport that serves the northern region in six months, accounting for 22.8% of the national total and confirming the growth trend of recent years.

Overall, during this period, the number of passengers handled at national airports increased by 5.2% compared to the same period in 2023, totalling over 32.8 million passengers.

It is worth noting that, last year, the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport reached a record high of 15 million passengers in 365 days, the highest number ever recorded.
