San Telmo is celebrated in Massarelos on 14 April

The traditional celebrations of San Telmo take place in Massarelos, on 14 April, organised by the Brotherhood of the "Almas do Corpo Santo de Massarelos e dos Mareantes", to honour sailors and the people of this district.

The programme is scheduled to start at 4.30 pm with a procession overland and by river, to honour the men lost at sea and for the blessing of vessels.

In the church square of Massarelos - decorated with a flower carpet - the activities programme includes the singing of the "Romeiros" [Pilgrims] and the performance by the Folklore Ranch of Porto; meanwhile, the "Bread of San Telmo" is handed over, followed by the show "Pedro Gonçalves, S. Telmo: a trip between the earth and the sky", by the Theatre Company Cena Jovem.
