Splendid concert by the Portuguese Symphonic Band at Aliados on the first day of the rest of 2020

Band concerts are utterly gratifying experiences, both to musicians and to audiences. And the Portuguese Symphonic Band indeed brought art music tradition to Aliados, welcoming the first day of 2020 in a magical type of symphony, as this is the Greek word for "sounding good together".
On 1st January 2020, Aliados played host to a programme that opened with "Forza del Destino" (8'), a work by Giuseppe Verdi. Both ensemble and audience took to the work with enthusiasm.
Aram Khatchaturian's works were next, admirably performed by the Portuguese Symphonic Band.
Next on the programme, Camille Saint-Saens and Geronimo Gimeéz; the performance closed with the marvellous sound of Julius Fucik.
The conductor at the helm was Francisco Almeida.
It should be highlighted that the ensemble celebrated its 15th anniversary that very same day.
The audience cheered and the ensemble responded with splendid effect.
