The security control of Porto Airport has been optimized, improving passenger and baggage processing by more than 60%.

Last December, the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport reached a new record of 10 million passengers served. This number may very well rise, taking into consideration the new security remote screening equipment installed and the increased response capacity, providing the traveller greater comfort.

In fact, the setting of four conveyor belts and X-ray systems with European certification, which are more energetic and can penetrate many materials, makes control checks processing faster than before thus enabling more passengers and baggage to pass security controls, ANA stated to News agency Lusa.

According to Thierry Ligonnière, ANA's Chief Operating Officer and Manager, this investment in Porto Airport has been anticipated since 2017 and its fundamental goal is to increase the airport's infrastructure, "to cope with what we envisage will be the changes in demand".

Besides, recently last year the newspaper La Voz de Galicia, reported that the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport registered a record number of more than six million passengers, more than the three Galician airports altogether.
