TAP has announced new routes and the opening of previously cancelled routes from Porto International Airport, as is the case of Barcelona and Milan, starting in 2018.

Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, is "naturally glad", especially regarding the routes that had been cancelled in the recent past, however, according to the Mayor, this news cannot be regarded as a Christmas gift for the city of Porto and for the North region of Portugal, as TAP CEO, Fernando Pinto refers in his announcement.

As of 2018, TAP will reopen two cancelled routes - Milan and Barcelona - and will start two new routes - London and Ponta Delgada.

Rui Moreira further said that the restoring of itineraries such as Milan (Malpensa) is of the utmost importance "not only for businesses but also for emigrants who live in the North region of Italy and in Switzerland, which are best served by the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport".

According to the press and the TAP announcement, on 19 December, flights to Barcelona (Spain) and Milan (Italy) will happen twice a day and the flights to London (UK) and Ponta Delgada (Azores, Portugal) will have a once a day frequency.
