The role of Fine Arts in Painting Production is debated at FBAUP

The second edition of the ICOCEP - International Congress on Contemporary European Painting, is held in Porto from 8 to 11 April.

This will be an opportunity to debate the role and place of painting, research and teaching wise, painting dissemination and practice in the European context.

The event gathers 80 speakers from the United States to Israel. The activities programme includes debates, talks, and active interaction among professors, researchers, students, artists and those interested in this art.

One of the most relevant painters of current times is Belgian painter Luc Tuymans, who is the guest of honour of the event.

Also, Lee Weinberg, curator, art critic and Professor at the Royal College of London, in the UK, and in Shenkar University, Israel, will participate in a session on the link between AI and painting.

Michael Rogers features his work as a researcher, artists and professor in Japan, Europe and in the United States of America, in the panel themed "Light and Transparency in Painting".

Pedro Calapez, one of the most renowned painters in Portugal, will be the third keynote speaker of the event.

This is the perfect time to attend the sessions of some of the most reputed art critics, artists and Professors, including Julio Cesar Abad Vidal and Romain Mathieu, Paloma Pelaez Bravo, Tarja Pitkanen-Walter and Abraham Neufeld.

ICOCEP is organised by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, jointly with the Institute of Research in Art, Design and Society.
