Following the reopening of Cinema Trindade, which still is the "only street cinema" in Porto with daily sessions, the concept was a success and about 50 thousand people went to the movies. There will be a special programming to mark the occasion.

Américo Santos, founder of Nitrato Filmes and in the person in charge of Cinema Trindade, reopened the cinema almost two decades after closing. On 5 February 2017, the Cinema Trindade opened two rooms (169 and 183 seats) and four daily sessions each, every day of the week.

"Reopening a street cinema seemed an adventure, an excessively romantic idea, but is has been surprising. People in Porto have clanged to this project. It reopened in the right moment, at a time of cultural and touristic turmoil in the city", Américo Santos stated to news agency Lusa.

Currently, the Trindade is in the Tripass circuit, the card created by Porto City Hall in 2016 with the aim of stimulating the return of film screening to city downtown, offering holders ticket prices discounts.

The "anniversary Special Programme" kicks-off Monday, 5 February and runs till 16 February.
