Thousands of people demonstrated peacefully, Sunday afternoon, in front of the Honorary Consulate of Russia in Porto. With flowers, posters, flags of the Ukraine and Portugal or a simple show of support, Ukrainians and Portuguese gathered in front of the Russian consulate on Boavista Avenue, The peaceful demonstration even forced traffic to be cut off on that road for a few hours.

Several Ukrainians were allowed to speak to the crowd, from the balcony of a building opposite the Russian consulate. Speeches of support and calls for peace in Ukraine were heard. The Ukrainian anthem - "Ще не вмерла України" (“The Ukraine is not dead yet”) and traditional music from the country, such as “Гей пливе кача” (“Floating on the Tisza”) were also chanted. There were moments of some emotion among the people who occupied the two lanes of Boavista Avenue.

There were thousands of participants in the demonstration “For Peace, against the invasion” – among them, were members of the Porto City Council – demobilized in the same way as it happened: peacefully.

During the weekend, the facade of the City Hall was lit up with the colors (blue and yellow) of the Ukrainian flag, in a clear support of the Porto inhabitants to the people of that country.
