WE'BIZ Talk "Scaling Up Globally from Portugal" in the city of Porto

The ANJE - National Association of Young Entrepreneurs organised the WE'BIZ Talk "Scaling Up Globally from Portugal" on March 29th, in the city of Porto.

WE'BIZ Talks is regularly organised by ANJE as an opportunity for contacts between entrepreneurs and mentors, investors or leading venture capitalists in the overall market.

The Panel of invited investors to the session included Max Kelly (Managing Director of Techstars), Verne Harnish (founder of Entrepreneurs Organization and author of Scaling Up) and Boris Golden (Principal of Partech Ventures).

The Secretary of State for Industry, João Vasconcelos, and the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira also attended the conference.

Shaheen Samavati, journalist of Tech.eu, was in charge of moderating the event.

On the occasion of the opening of WE'BIZ Talk the president of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE), Adelino Costa Matos, pointed out "the great deal of sensitivity that Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, and his executive team at Porto Municipality demonstrate regarding the development of Entrepreneurship, innovation and technology" in the city's business dynamics.

For Rui Moreira, cities play a crucial role in creating a "distinctive economic ecosystem", and Porto "is a city that offers good conditions for investors, entrepreneurs of all sizes and nationalities."

According to the Mayor of Porto, "cities can have here a unique role, facilitating companies' growth and the creation of a thriving innovation ecosystem."

The Mayor of Porto also highlighted "the talent of human resources" and the "higher quality training" provided by the University and Institutes of Porto.

Rui Moreira stated as well that "more than 40% of the Portuguese Scale-ups are from Porto, but foremost and most importantly, Porto leads the number in terms of new start-ups being created every year."



The National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) was founded on July 29th, 1986, in Porto, with the purpose of enhancing both corporate skills and entrepreneurial activity.
