Rolling stairs are now fully operational in Miragaia thus supporting local residents

Slope friendly stairs or rolling stairs are now operational in the Miragaia area, in Porto. The work to establish rolling stairs in that area of the Invicta was to lessen the journey of commuting from the city's higher and lower levels.

UNESCO grants chair to the University of Porto in Heritage Studies

Last films by Buñuel on display at Campo Alegre

Campo Alegre Municipal Theatre features the filmography by Luís Buñuel till the 1st July. There are two sessions per film each day, at 6.30pm and at 9.39pm. These are the last days to watch the cult films by one of the most relevant cinema directors of all times.

The Garden of Marquês is greener and now has camellia's flowerbeds. The plot has been expanded, following the plantation of those iconic flowers, making this a new must-visit garden at the Invicta.

This weekend, take time to enjoy another great film by iconic director Luís Buñuel. The film on show is "The Diary of a Chambermaid", adapted by the homonymous novel by Octave Mirbeau and the first directed with the participation of French producer Serge Silberman. "The Diary of a Chambermaid" is on show at Campo Alegre as of Sunday, at 3.30pm, at 6.30pm and at 9.30pm.

Porto did what needed to be done and led by example

This year, the century-old tradition of São João street parades did not take place as the Municipality of Porto cancelled official festivities due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, the Municipality urged people to take the party home. And Porto did what needed to be done, it celebrated in private.

This year, amid a pandemic, don't take the party to the streets, avoid crowds and find new meanings for the word celebration. The usual parades, crowds and parties have to be scheduled for 2021. Still, everyone can have their own celebration; to brighten moods all night long, Rádio Festival ensures a special broadcasting that will go from the early morning of the 23rd June till the first light of day of the 24th June. The broadcast kicks-off at 8am and will be playing for 18 hours straight.

Customs Railway Branch will be reactivated

About 30 years ago, the Customs Railway Branch in Porto was deactivated. It will be turned into an eco-track in a foreseeable future. The Municipal Executive unanimously approved this immediate solution, while a public discussion to debate the two possible definitive solutions to the railway branch is being prepared.
