Memorable activities to mark Rivoli's 87 anniversary

Rivoli Theatre celebrates its 87 anniversary year maxing up the weekend in Porto. There will be dance, theatre, music, literature and performances till 4 in the morning on 20 January and 100 people from the city to blow out Rivoli's birthday candles.

The first phase of the Special Regime for non-Portuguese nationals to access Higher Education in the University of Porto for the Academic year 2019/2020 commenced on 2 January. In total, the University of Porto provides 763 university places for international students only, a number that clearly surpasses the 567 places made available the previous school year, of which 478 have been filled.

The Nos Primavera Sound 2019 line-up was announced today and it features "the most audacious festival programming ever", according to the organisation. The festival runs from 6 to 8 June in the City Park. The list of the headliners for the Nos Primavera Sound are Solange and Erykah Badu, J Balvin, Interpol, James Blake and Stereolab.

Did you know that Porto has a Municipal Ombudsman as of June 2018?

Porto has a Municipal Ombudsman as of 26 June 2018. This is the first time that the city of Porto has a Public Official to deal with matters of fairness and transparency in the city. Ombudsmen are independent, impartial and provide a free service. Their job is to investigate complaints that haven't been solved by the organisation complained against, making someone suffer as a result. The office is neutral and looks at the complaint from all sides.

Open House invites for more than just one free event at Casa da Música from 16 to 20 January

Starting today, 16 January and till 20 January, Casa da Música is a must visit site in Porto as the Casa Aberta [Open House] initiative kicks off with numerous free access events. The aim of this programme is to allow visitors to learn more about the iconic Casa da Música.

TAP resumes Porto- Brussels flight and launches new routes to Lyon and Munich

Tickets for the flights Porto-Brussels are already commercially available at TAP, and they will be resumed on 1 July. Besides this announced flight, the Portuguese Flagship Company will launch new routes for the summer 2019, namely the Lyon and Munich routes as of September and the strengthening of the Porto-Madrid and the Porto-New York links as well.

The Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto lends Da Vinci work of art to the Louvre Museum in Paris this fall

The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP) will lend its Leonardo Da Vinci drawing to the Louvre Museum, in Paris, to the fall exhibition marking 500 years of Da Vinci's death.
