The "Quatro Elementos" exhibition catalogue, by Porto City Hall and designed by Pedro Nora, was selected to take part in the international annual competition "Best Book Design from all over the World". The Quatro Elementos exhibition was organised by Porto City Hall and it was curated by Ana Luísa Amaral (Water), Eduarda Neves (Earth), Pedro Faro (Fire) and Nuno Faria (Air).

Porto Busker Fest is held every weekend this August in the Invicta to offer street shows all over improvised stages Downtown Porto. National and foreign artists will entertain the public for donations, offering music, theatre, dance, and juggling performances.

From Friday to Sunday, Porto City Hall celebrates International Youth Day (IYD) with several activities targeted at young people.

Throughout August, till the 31st, there are live pipe organ concerts at Clérigos Church, always at noon. A wide repertoire of songs is presented, and concerts are access free.

After the holiday break, the Municipal Theatre New Season is announced in September. The opening party is set for 6th September and it will unveil the 2018-19 Season programming. This event is free entry and it starts at 7 pm.

From 1 to 31 August, Casa da Música offers the cycle "Portugal A Gosto", featuring national and traditional music, with evening concerts, giving materiality to urban and rural sounds.

Each Friday in Porto, the 5th MOVE Porto Metro 24H provides nonstop metro service every Friday and Saturday. Revellers can enjoy Porto by night without cutting their outings short in the Invicta as MOVE ensures safety, mobility and comfort in the context of nightlife transport availability.

Porto PianoFest opening concert, on 30th July, offers contemporary dance, piano and violin performances, by Stars of American Ballet - performing in Portugal for the first time - and pianist Nuno Marques. The festival runs till 5th August.

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) hosts the IEEE Region 8 Student and Young Professional Congress, till 29th July. The main objectives of this congress are debating soft skills development and technologies in a multicultural setting.

Italy, Mexico, Spain, Russia, Georgia, France, Slovakia and Portugal are the countries taking part in the International Folklore Festival, which began last weekend and runs till 29 July, in the city of Porto. More than 250 participants will showcase the heritage and culture of eight countries, with performances throughout town, namely Trindade Metro Station, Quinta de São Romão, the Social Centre of Sé, the Garden of Arca d'Água or the Gomes Teixeira Square.
