On 8 September, Brazilian culture will once again be celebrated in the city of Porto with lots of music, dance, food and handicrafts. The celebration will be held at Quinta do Covelo.

Brazil Day in Porto is an initiative of the Batucada Radical Cultural Association and is scheduled for the second Sunday of September, the 8th. From 1 to 9 p.m., joy and good humour are guaranteed at Quinta do Covelo.

Throughout the day, there will be dance workshops, presentations of folk dances from various Brazilian states, capoeira demonstrations and food, with highlight to typical Brazilian dishes and drinks. There will also be crafts, activities for children, DJs and lots of music.

One of the highlights of the programme will be a concert by Brazilian artists living in the city of Porto, who will each perform two songs, accompanied by the musicians of Batucada Radical.

The event, with free admission, has been taking place since 2003, with the backing of the Porto City Council, through the municipal company Ágora.

The Batucada Radical Cultural Association is a musical project founded in 1994. It was born out of a desire to publicise Brazilian music in Portugal, with interculturality being one of the group's main priorities.
