The exhibit "Bauhaus. 100 Anos, 100 Objetos" [Bauhaus. 100 Years, 100 Objects, free translation] celebrates 100 years of the legendary Arts School's events and icons at House-Museum Guerra Junqueiro, in Porto. The display will be on show till 3rd January 2020.

On the occasion of its centennial year, House-Museum Guerra Junqueiro features an iconic exhibition showcasing objects, historical and contemporary posters, and influential artwork by renowned artists.

This will also be the time to establishing a basis for reflection on the identity aspects that Bauhaus conveys, both at the time of its creation and at present time.

Take this journey around the legendary Bauhaus stage this October in Porto and revive the spirit of the design school in the tradition of several outstanding artists of the 20th century, including Oskar Schlemmer, Wassily Kandinsky, László Moholy-Nagy, Mies van der Rohe, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Marcel Breuer, Anni Albers, Oskar Schlemmer, László Moholy-Nagy, and Theo van Doesburg.

Among the 100 objects on display, there are historic postcards, books and chairs by Thonet, the historic German Factory that built the innovative curved steel chairs by Bauhaus, the first object to have been mass-produced and that has turned into a symbol of modernity.

Important milestones were the experiments of "Neues Bauen", that is to say "new way of building" and the pursuit for innovative housing solutions.

Bauhaus has transformed how art and architecture were (and still are) viewed. The school opened its doors in 1919 in the city of Weimar in central Germany and established new canons for contemporary design.

The Arts School was moved to Dessau in 1925, and it was shut down in 1933 by the National Socialists. Despite the short lifespan, Bauhaus - School of Design has been acclaimed for its distinctive aesthetic and continuing impact on modern and contemporary art.
