The International Puppet Festival of Porto (FIMP) happens between 11th and 20th October, bringing an array of performances from countries all around the globe.

Aware that puppetry appeals to all age groups and plays a relevant role both in disseminating knowledge and as an educational tool, FIMP prepared two special sessions for children, on the 17th and 18th October: the "Ninho" ["Nest", free translation].

Inspired by a poem by Portuguese writer Miguel Torga, who wrote poetry, short stories and theatre, "Ninho" is the latest performance by the Partículas Elementares Company and it brings a novelty: puppets with tell a story without words, but rather resorting to a poetic visual narrative, as Puppetry imbibes elements of all art forms, namely literature, painting, sculpture, music, dance, drama, enabling audiences, and younger audiences particularly, to develop their creative abilities.

"Ninho" is all about chance. A little boy is curious about a series of events. And so the narrative unfolds.

Targeted at the younger audiences, this play is "all about valuing the simple things", according to the artists.
