"A quiet evening of dance" at the Rivoli, on 28 and 29 June, at 9pm and at 7pm, respectively.
The American dancer and choreographer, resident in Frankfurt am Main in Hessen, stepped for the first time on Rivoli's stage eighteen years ago, in the framework of the "Porto 2001", when he was the Frankfurt Ballet Director.

His work spans for 20 years and he is internationally recognised for the integration of ballet and visual arts. His vision of choreography has inspired him to create several installations, films, and web-based knowledge creation, mixing the spoken word and experimental music.

William Forsythe is known internationally for his work with the Ballet Frankfurt (1984-2004) and The Forsythe Company (2005-2015).

Forsythe was born on 30 December, 1949 in New York City, but his acknowledgement in Europe only happened after Rudolf Nureyev's command for the Paris Opera Ballet, in 1987.

The choreographer goes beyond the canons, and takes dance through new paths and possibilities, defying and pushing the boundaries of balance, strength and stretch.

"A quiet evening of dance" by the Forsythe Company, a Collective founded in 2005, features a chamber music project, made of two adapted plays and an original one, tailored according to the fundamentals of ballet and the history of dance.

This is but one of the most relevant and acclaimed shows of 2018, with "The Guardian" stating the performance as "unique" and "revealing".

The William Forsythe Company will be in Porto, at Rivoli, on 28 June, at 9pm and repeats the following day at 7pm. Not to be missed!
