Al Gore explained how to lead the global fight for climate solutions in Porto

Former Vice President Al Gore was the keynote speaker at the Climate Change Leadership Porto Summit 2019 - solutions for the Wine Industry, which took place in Porto, from 5 to 7 July, at Porto Customs Building. Al Gore closed the conference, which relied on the opening speech by Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira.

"The United States will continue in the Paris Agreement", and "over 30 countries, Portugal included, have joined the decarbonisation process", stated Al Gore at the Porto Customs Congress Centre, host of the conference on climate change, once again organised by Taylor's.

Former Vice-President and founder of The Climate Reality Project also said that "more than 160 global companies are committed to taking concrete actions and the Wine Industry is leading the way".

Al Gore delivered a lecture on the topic "Solutions for the Wine Industry - Porto protocol - a case for optimism on climate change". Nobel Prize Laureate and former Vice-President of the USA, Al Gore is devoted to leading a global cultural movement demanding immediate action on the climate crisis by means of grassroots strategies in order to increase the public awareness on the urgency and solvability of the climate crisis. This was the message that he conveyed in Porto, on 7 March.

The Climate Change Leadership Porto Summit 2019 welcomed first line speakers, namely João Matos Fernandes, Portuguese Minister of the Environment and Energy Transition, Afroz Shah, LLM (Gold Medallist), Counsel, and Bombay High Court. Champion of Earth, United Nations. Indian of the year, Public Service, CNN News 18, Marco Lambertini, Director General of WWF International, heading one of the world's largest and most respected conservation organizations and Kaj Török, Chief Reputation Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer at MAX Burgers, the world´s first climate-positive burgers, and many others.

All shared with the full audience their research, their views and strategies to cope with the change in climate conditions, so as to mitigate negative impacts.

As Adrian Bridge, Taylor's CEO stated "there is no time to reinvent the wheel. If we all share our successes and experiences, we will all benefit. This is the purpose of Porto Protocol, which is committed to adopting and promoting concrete actions to reduce the impact of a changing climate".

Porto Protocol is a call to action regarding Climate Change, urging global companies and individuals to tackle this threat, as this common problem requires a communal response. The Porto Protocol was signed on March 2018, in the presence of Barack Obama.
