The exhibition themed “Alberto Giacometti - Peter Lindbergh. Seizing the Invisible” brings to Porto, for the first time ever, unseen photographs of the Swiss visual artist, Alberto Giacometti, captured by the German photographer Peter Lindbergh. It will be on display at the Museu da Misericórdia do Porto (MMIPO) until 24 September.

The exhibit displays a selection of Giacometti’s work, paired with Lindbergh’s photos. “This pairing gives the opportunity to show the intimate dialogue that occurred between the photographer and the work by the sculptor, while revealing the resemblances in their ways of representing reality, even though they are two distinct artistic expressions”, marks the Museu da Misericórdia do Porto.

The display is the result of an invitation by the Giacometti Foundation, in Paris to Peter Lindbergh, in 2017, as they were aware that the photographer had always been fascinated by the work and personality of Alberto Giacometti.

The exhibition has only been on display at the Giacometti Institute, in Paris. The exhibition relies on the support of Taylor’s, and can be visited until 24 September.
