Ambassadors from the EU member countries hold work meeting in Porto

A working meeting was held in Porto, gathering 20 ambassadors from the EU member countries, at the invitation of the Embassy of Austria.

The delegates attended a work meeting at the official residence of Mayor of Porto, Casa do Roseiral, in the framework of the Austrian Presidency of the European Union Council, which will end in December 2018. This meeting was organised by the Austrian Ambassador in Portugal, Robert Zischg.

At Casa do Roseiral, the delegates wanted to know more about the role of the Mayor of Porto, as this position holds different competences according to their respective country.

Rui Moreira explained also the guidelines of his electoral programme for the city, in the fields of transports, tourism, and housing.

Topics such as decentralization in Portugal, the political challenges of an independent candidate in the country's politics and the civic participation of citizens were also debated during this meeting.

The work meeting was attended by ambassadors from Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Netherlands, Ireland, Luxembourg, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia, Hungary, United Kingdom, Cyprus, Serbia and a representative of the European Union.

The two-day programme includes a visit to the Porto Wine Cellars, visits to some of the most representative companies in the region, to the Serralves Foundation and to Casa da Música.
