Ana and Pedro Walgode study at the UP and are world runners-up of the World Roller Games 2019 senior Dancing Couples

Ana and Pedro Walgode are siblings and both study at the University of Porto. They combine study and figure-skating competition and became world runners up of Senior Dancing Couples within the World Roller Games 2019, in Barcelona.

Ana is twenty-one years old and attends the third year of the Integrated Master in bioengineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). Pedro is twenty-five and attends the Chemical and Biological Doctoral Programme at the same faculty as his sister, at FEUP.

Bold, rigorous and perfectionist are the best words to describe these siblings, even because their sporting discipline so requires. They started practising figure skating when Ana was seven and Pedro was ten.

Fifteen years later, brother and sister have conquered an impressive list of artistic skating triumphs at world level.

Moreover, Ana Walgode reached podium position in the Solo Dance Senior competition, winning second place, a feat that Ana had already achieved in 2017, in Nanjing, China. In the same competition, but for the male rank, Pedro won the bronze medal, which he had already conquered two years before.

Ana and Pedro highlight that what they are most pleased about the University of Porto are "the facilities and the atmosphere" and "the excellence in teaching".
