BEAST shares perspective on Eastern Europe contemporary cinematographic culture

BEAST - International Film Festival takes to Porto from 28 September to 6 October, and this year the festival is devoted to Eastern Europe, sharing perspectives on the Balkans, Baltics or Post-Communism and highlighting the region's contemporary cinematographic culture.

The opening session is scheduled for 28 September at 9.30 pm in Cinema Trindade, with the national premiere of "Summer Survivors", by da Lithuanian Marija Kavtaradze, a film that addresses mental illness from a realistic and positive perspective.

This year's BEAST focus on Lithuania.

Special sessions and competition sessions, as well as masterclasses and workshops will be held in different places all over the city of Porto, namely Rivoli, Cinema Passos Manuel, Municipal Library Almeida Garrett, Casa das Artes and Cinema Trindade.

The competition sessions are divided in three categories: EastWave - fiction film; EastDoc - documentary films and experimental EAST.

Experimental films remain the hallmarks of the Festival, which showcases films by Eastern Europe filmmakers and Portuguese directors who reside outside the country.
