CIBIO Porto strengthens partnership with Angola for biodiversity research

The CIBIO-Centre for Research in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, in Porto and the National Institute of Biodiversity of Angola have signed a Cooperation Agreement, on 21 May, regarding the exchange of technical and scientific information, joint research and the support in the establishment of specialized labs of molecular biology.

The partnership agreement was signed in Luanda, the capital city of Angola and it is carried out in the framework of the technical and scientific cooperation between both institutions, under the seal of the Ministry of Environment of Angola and also in the context of the cooperation actions of the UNESCO Life on Land Professorship, granted to the University of Porto by the CIBIO InBIO.

In addition to the signing of the protocol, the session also included the official releasing of the book "Biodiversidade de Angola - Ciência e Conservação: Uma Síntese Moderna", by Nuno Ferrand, promoted by CIBIO InBIO, in partnership with the Government of Angola and the Kissana Foundation.

The book editors are Brian Huntley and Nuno Ferrand, Director of the CIBIO InBIO, and whose preface is signed by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, and includes the contribution of over 40 researchers from 40 countries that will work on the immense biodiversity of Angola that is left to unravel still in Angola.
