Danny Glover talks Slavery, Reparations and Justice in the Forum of the Future in Porto

Danny Glover, award-winning actor, producer and humanitarian with a performance career that spans more than 30 years, is for the first time in Porto, to take part in the Forum of the Future 2019, whose theme is "Crossings", an edition that delves on debating ancient times and civilizations in relation with present time.

Later today, the renowned American actor, film director, and political activist Danny Glover will address audiences at Rivoli, at 9pm, on the topic of union activism, slavery, reparations and justice.

John Akomfrah, British artist, writer, film director, screenwriter, theorist and curator will chair the session.

Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira hosted a lunch at his official residence - Casa do Roseiral - that gathered Danny Glover, John Akomfrah and participants/organisers of the Forum of the Future.

Glover is also an active board member of the TransAfrica Forum. He is known for delivering inspiring messages and performances on social justice, diversity, activism and global citizenship to audiences worldwide.  

Today, Mr Glover is in Porto to talk race, reparations for slavery and justice, within the Forum of the Future, the place naming event in an ever more culturally vibrant city.

The "Lethal Weapon" and "Color Purple" star has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program, focusing on issues of poverty, disease and economic development in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. He currently serves as UNICEF Ambassador.

Danny Glover will go on stage at Rivoli with Turner Award nominee 2018, Naeem Mohaiemen, and the African Wildlife Foundation director for Development policies.

All events are access free on production of the corresponding ticket, which can be collected at the corresponding venue, on the day of the event, maximum two tickets per person each session.
