Diverse, free and lively arts and entertainment at Miguel Bombarda today

Saturday, 4 May, kicks off the third edition of the 2019 cycle of Inaugurações Simultâneas [Simultaneous Openings] at Miguel Bombarda District. At 4pm, 16 galleries open doors and welcome everyone to experience art in person.

Street performances and guided tours will announce the new shows and exhibits promoted by Porto Lazer. There are two available schedules (4 pm-5 pm; 5.30 pm-6.30 pm), and each group (15 people each) depart from Rua de Miguel Bombarda (pedestrian area, next to the "Porto." stand).

Expect no less than joyful moments all around the arts district, namely three workshops, street animation, two exhibits, a concert, DJ sets, a photographic walk and the usual guided tours.

Artist Bina Tangerina will let you in on how to create a fanzine. In turn, Leonor Nunes, from Planeta Violeta, will challenge participants to the workshop the "Cut out drawing" technique. In addition, ColorADD Social will raise awareness to colorblindeness, in the workshop "A cor é para todos" [Colour is everyone's", free translation].

The exhibit "Espelhos Mágicos" ["Magic Mirrors", free translation], by Joana Valente, is one of the novelties of this cycle. Visiting hours are 4pm and 8pm, at the as 16 e as 20 horas, at Miguel Bombarda Street pedestrian area (next to Rua da Boa Nova).

At the same venue, the exhibition "Corta e Cose Existencial" ["Existencial overlocking", free translation] with artists direction by Helena Rocio Janeiro will be on show.

Also at Miguel Bombarda Street, the concert "Duquesa", produced by Lovers & Lollypops, will start at 5pm, with DJ set by Vicente Abreu, and his collective of 7 Magníficos taking care of the warm-up session, from 4pm to 5pm. They come back for more, from 6pm until 8pm.

The photo-walk by Paulo Martins, features two sessions (the first between 4pm and 5.30pm and the second between 6pm and 7.30pm), will let you in on how to photograph the streets, teach you light techniques and the punctum. Rendez-vous is at "Porto.". Participants must bring their own cameras.

Each of the cycles of this new 2019 season is inspired by themes that are embodied in the quarter's daily life: environment and sustainability, fashion, music, urban art, infancy and multi culturalism.

The openings will take place every two months: 19 January, 9 March, 4 May, 29 June, 21 September and the last one on 9 November.
