The European "Video on demand" service, aka AVA will be available in Portugal. The service will be announced at the Municipal Library Almeida Garrett at 6.30m pm, on 20th June.

This is a joint partnership with Doclisboa. These two libraries in Porto and in Lisbon will be a part of the European Network, whose main goal is to provide free access to cinema and video services in public libraries' computers.

The kick-off in Porto features Doclisboa co-director Cíntia Gil, and filmmaker Edmundo Cordeiro. His film "Todas as Cartas de Rimbaud" [All Rimbaud's Lettres] will be screened at the launch session.

Besides this film, twenty other films from Doclisboa'17 will be available to the public on a continuing basis.

The AVA project begun as a dissemination platform of cinema festivals, coordinated by Reelport. The inception included seven short film festivals. In 2018, this organisation extended the service to four other documentary film festivals, namely Doclisboa, Jihlava, Beldocs e Sheffield.

The main goal is to provide libraries with cinema service, creating new opportunities for readers with the online movie service.

This move will combine bringing new audiences to filmmaking and new ways of watching and distributing cinema.
