The Forum of the Future 2019 runs from 3rd till 9th November, at Rivoli. The 7-day arts event in Porto tells you everything you've been wanting to know about territorial and cultural occupation.

Debates, performances and workshops will bring to the table the discussion of people's struggles for their national liberation and for democracy; both throughout the centuries and in present time, in line, as well, with the celebrated symbolism of the 500 years of the first circumnavigation of the globe and the spirit which led Magellan to sail around the world.

Audiences will benefit from a wide variety of speech and debate events that will gather a prime list of panellists that will share their wisdom with the crowd.

Today, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Nigerian writer whose works range from novels to short stories to nonfiction, especially known for her work on the Biafran war in Nigeria during the late 1960s will kick off the 2019 edition of the Forum of the Future, at Rivoli, starting at 5pm.

Over 52 invitees, from 15 countries will be in Porto to debate the most fracturing themes on society.

Mayor Rui Moreira, who is also in charge of the Culture Department at Porto City Hall, highlighted the high levels of public participation, evermore drawn to the quality and eclecticism of the programming.

"It makes us believe that it is worth thinking the future from the city of Porto. This was our dream five years ago and it is a dream that lives on", Rui Moreira stated at the time.

After all, this "Voyage" will lead us to the circumnavigation era and to analysing "occupation and appropriation of identity, as well as the profound changes in our civilization".

All events are access free on production of the corresponding ticket, which can be collected at the corresponding venue, on the day of the event, maximum two tickets per person each session.
