Over 300 youth in about 18 schools in the country and in the world will take part in the 12th edition of OPOMUN - The Oporto Model United Nations conference. Students of the Colégio Luso Internacional do Porto (CLIP) organise the event, which takes place between 28 February and 2 March, with the support of Porto City Hall.

Greetings and welcome from the "astonishing city of Porto" are well in order, for this year's edition of the OPOMUN, organised by the directors, teachers and, most outstandingly, the students of The Oporto International School.

"Twelve years is time enough to mature debate and conference quality. We aim at constructing memories, making a difference in participants' perception over current issues and broaden power of negotiation - allowing them to later critically look at problems, evaluate and above all act on them", as indicated in the OPOMUN's website.

These type of events are important as they boost critical thinking and lead future generation of leaders to reshape politics, in order to bring about real change, and the result is that "we build a basis for understanding and diplomacy and thus a fair and balanced decision-making environment", as stated by the organisation.

OPOMUN is a Model United Nations conference where students (delegates) from all over the world gather to debate issues of great importance, following the procedures of the United Nations.

The 12th edition of OPOMUN, under the motto "Dare to make the difference" relies on the support of the Education, Youth and Innovation Department of Porto City Council Hall.
