In two years’ time, the Palacete Silva Monteiro will turn into a landmark cultural venue. At present, the Seventeenth century building, which is the headquarters of the Viticulture Commission of the Vinhos Verdes Region (CVRVV) will deliver magical sunsets in its gardens with an amazing cinema cycle with thoroughly selected films that will uplift your summer.

“The Gleaners and I”, a French documentary film by Agnès Varda, “I Travel Because I Have to, I Come Back Because I Love You”, by Marcelo Gomes and Karim Aïnouz and “First Cow”, by Kelly Reichardton are some of the films included in the cinema cycle promoted by the Viticulture Commission of the Vinhos Verdes Region, which runs between 10 July and 11 September. Sessions kick start at 8.30 pm and are limited to a maximum number of 50 participants.

The Palacete Silva Monteiro, headquarters to the Viticulture Commission of the Vinhos Verdes Region (CVRVV), will be transformed in a cultural venue in 2023. Rehabilitation works are ongoing, by the students of the Catholic University of Porto, but in the meantime, there is this event, guarantee to suit all tastes, with the screening of iconic films such as “I Travel Because I Have to, I Come Back Because I Love You”, by Marcelo Gomes and Karim Aïnouz, on 10 July; the programme also features the screening of “First Cow”, by Kelly Reichardton, on 16 July. August 14th brings The Gleaners and I, a French documentary film by Agnès Varda, and on 21 August, the film “Cemetery of Splendour”, by Apichatpong Weerasethakul hits the silver screen. The cinema cycle concludes with “Tabu”, by Miguel Gomes, on 11 September.

“The goal of this cycle devoted to the Seventh Art is to make an important contribution with exhibitions, conferences, concerts, theatre, Photography, and hopefully open the space to the city”, explained the President of the Vinhos Verdes Commission (CVRVV), Manuel Pinheiro, cited by the Lusa Agency.

Participants should arrive at the Palacete Silva Monteiro at 8.30 pm, to enjoy a Vinho Verde tasting. The film screening happens at 9 pm. How about this for a full night out?
