"Hollywood Icons" exhibition takes to Portuguese Photography Centre, in Porto, tomorrow, 6th March. It is the amazing chance to appreciate the portraits of Hollywood gold; actors and actresses that make Hollywood the place where stars are born. The exhibition kicks off on 6th March and runs till 7th June. Opening hours are from 10am to 7pm. There are guided tours and tickets cost 6 euros.

This is the time to welcome Hollywood Golden Era at the Invicta. This exhibit is curated by Simon Crocker and Robert Dance and inaugurates tomorrow in Porto, after being on show in Brazil, Italy and Germany.

The show features circa 161 portraits, most of them in black and white, of the symbols of an era and belong to the John Kobal Foundation, which has produced this exhibition, jointly with Terra Esplêndida.

The names included in this display rose beyond common mortal's statute, namely Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando, Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich, Hedy Lamarr, Lauren Bacall, Sophie Loren, Marcello Mastroianni, Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner, just to mention a few.

Besides, cinema aficionados will be able to learn who was "behind the scenes"; the work of great photographers also features the exhibition, such as George Hurrell, master of light and shadow, Clarence Sinclair Bull, who managed the Photography Studio at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for over 40 years, Laszlo Willinger, Ted Allan, Eugene Robert Richee, Ernest Bachrach and Harriet Louise, the only female photographer that has run a photo studio in the Hollywood Golden Era.

More than an exhibition of Hollywood big stars, this is also a display on the life and career of collector John Kobal (1940-1991). One of the curators of this exhibit, Simon Crocker, "will be in Porto to conduct guided tours", as well as Mário Augusto, "an expert in Hollywood cinema", as stated by Rui Pereira, from Terra Esplêndida, to Time Out.
