Miguel Campos is 23 years old, he is from Porto and was honoured "Best Medical Student" at King's College Faculty of Medicine, in London, UK.
When Miguel Campos was 17 years old his was the highest grade in the College Grade Admission, back in 2013, in Portugal.

As Medicine is a versatile field that can be studied anywhere in the world, Miguel had several choices at his disposal. As such, he decided to pursue his studies in London, at King's College London, where he graduated in Medical Studies.

This year, King's College Faculty of Medicine honoured Miguel Campos with the "Gold Medal", as he was the best student in his degree, in a total of 480 fellow students. The medal that King's granted Miguel Campos acknowledges the work developed over the last six years: he had the highest grade in all the theoretical and practical examinations.

Miguel was interviewed by phone by the Jornal de Notícias, and he was somewhat surprised that his award made it to national headlines.

He doesn't think that Medicine is a degree only for the "intelligent students", but rather "that it is a relatively easy degree, though it demands really hard-work".

When in Porto, Miguel studied at Oporto British School, and when he was about 15 years old he was keen on knowing how MDs actually worked.

"I did a kind of observation internship at São João Hospital, in the city of Porto, which some people found odd, but there was this Doctor, a nice Doctor who let me accompany him for an entire week".

From that in situ experience, Miguel gained an enormous respect for palliative care. "These are extraordinary people, impressive people", Miguel enthused.

He still has 10 years ahead of him to becoming what he wants to be: a plastic surgeon.

His résumé is already impressive, as he won a fellowship in Plastic Surgery at Harvard University and another one, in the same field, at the University of Singapore and also an internship in Oxford.

King's College London is a public research university in London, United Kingdom. It was established in 1829 by King George IV and Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, when it received its first royal charter (as a university college), and claims to be the fourth oldest university institution in England.
