MIT Artificial Intelligence expert Catherine Havasi lectures at the Faculty of Sciences of Porto

Catherine Havasi is an American scientist who specialises in artificial intelligence (AI) at MIT Media Lab. Havasi will be at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) on 11 July, at 10.30am to address the concept of Natural Language Processing, its technologies and applications.

Havasi is co-founder and CEO of AI company Luminoso, and she was a member of the MIT group engaged in the Open Mind Common Sense (also known as OMCS) AI project and that created the natural language AI program ConceptNet.

In 2014, the Boston Business Newspaper included Catherine Havasi in the short-list of the 40 most relevant company leaders in their fields of work. One year later, the American Scientist was considered one of the 100 most creative individuals in the business areas.

The event will be held jointly with the United States Embassy ad it is schedule to begin at 10.30am, at the Auditorium Ferreira da Silva. Entrance is free.
